Back in March of this year, Korah (near the city of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia) was ravaged by a massive landslide caused by unstable garbage piled up over the years. This urban slum originally started as an outcast leper community, and now houses over 130,000 people that are situated directly on a garbage dump.

In addition to leprosy, TB, HIV and AIDS, the people of this community experienced massive loss recently when the piled up garbage began to shift and buried thousands of residents. While we will never be able to replace their loss of people and homes, Handlers has contributed a percentage of its total sales for the month of March to the Hope for Korah effort.

In partnership with Great Hope Ministries, Hope for Korah is distributing funds, shelter and food to the malnourished children of that region. In addition you can also get involved in a family sponsorship program to provide a future to the most vulnerable families in Korah.

In Canada we are privileged to have access to food, shelter and clean water to drink. These basic necessities we take for granted are not as readily available in other parts of the world. Giving back to these communities is one way we can contribute and help build a better life for someone else.
